Choose Aldo's Chain Skill for the actions you can support

Another Eden Begins gives Aldo two distinct Chain Skill choices in the recorded menus examined here: Skyslasher builds from weak-point attacks, while Blazing Sword builds from fire-type attacks. The right choice depends on what your party can do against the current enemies, not simply which name sounds stronger.

The details below were checked against recorded demo skill menus at 2:20:04. They describe that observed version and configuration, not a tested final-game build or every upgrade Aldo can obtain.

Skyslasher and Blazing Sword do different jobs

Additional conditionNo extra damage condition stated in this displayed descriptionAttack count increases threefold against a target with Break (Fire)

The Blazing Sword description at 2:20:04.6 specifies attack count, not a universal threefold multiplier to total damage. That distinction matters when comparing builds or reading a claim that Aldo always deals triple damage.

A fire attack and a weak-point attack are not interchangeable requirements. A fire attack may also hit a weakness, but that depends on the target. Read the equipped Chain Skill's condition before choosing the actions intended to build its points.

What Flame Break adds

The Flame Break menu at 2:19:59 lists it as a non-elemental support skill costing 14 MP in the observed setup. Its description applies Break (Fire) to one enemy, displays “x3” for that application, and describes Break (Fire) as doubling fire-type damage.

This is separate from Blazing Sword's attack-count effect. The useful connection is that Flame Break applies the status named by Blazing Sword's conditional effect. Before relying on that interaction, check whether the target still has Break (Fire) when the Chain Skill activates.

Do not turn the two displayed numbers into a blanket sixfold damage promise. That would require checking how the status is consumed, which hits receive it, and the damage calculation in the actual battle. The menu alone does not establish that result.

Learning a skill is not the same as equipping it

The footage shows four normal skill slots and a separate Chain Skill slot. In the observed loadout, Fire Slash, Flame Break, and X Slash occupy normal slots, while Skyslasher occupies the Chain slot. One normal slot is empty.

Blazing Sword belongs in the Chain selection, not in that empty normal slot. This is a useful first check if you learned it but cannot find it among the commands you expected to equip.

Use the two menus for different tasks:

  • Abilities: inspect what the character has learned or can learn.
  • Skills: choose which learned normal skills and Chain Skill are equipped.

After making a change, check the displayed equipped Chain name and its Stack Condition. Seeing a skill in a learnable-abilities list is not the same thing as seeing it in the equipped slot.

Read the ability tree without assuming an optimal route

At 2:19:44 in the same recording, Aldo's two branches are labeled Burning Sword Draw and Sword Skills. The displayed fire-oriented branch includes learned skills, stat increases, a special ability, and later skill upgrades.

The inspected special ability, Initial Break (Fire), describes applying Break (Fire) to all enemies at battle start. It is a different entry from the normal command Flame Break. Do not assume the battle-start effect is active merely because Aldo has learned the command.

The character shown is level 23, but that does not prove level 23 is a skill's unlock requirement. Likewise, a player's current point allocation is one allocation—not proof that you should copy it.

For your own choices, work backward from the task: which Chain condition can the party satisfy, which learned skills support it, and what would the next ability change? That gives you a reason for spending points without relying on an untested universal build.
